Nursery Shadow Box Project

"How do you get started on a new project?"  I hear this question quite a bit and many times, for me, it starts with a sketch.  I like to scratch down on paper some of the rough thoughts swirling around in my brain to see what they will actually look like when put all together.  That is exactly how this baby shower project started - with a sketch!

When I felt confident that some of my ideas might work, I went out and sourced some of the specific things I knew I wanted to incorporate in the project, like the shadow box.

This beauty actually opened from the front so it will be so easy for the new parents to add their pictures and mementos after the baby's arrival rather than having to take the back off and wrestle with all those staples, etc.  The bard wood exterior and burlap background fit right into the theme of the nursery of "Outdoors All Boy".

Next I found the papers and some 3D elements that would look great in this theme.   Time to ink all the edges to distress them.

The finished product has multiple levels of depth in the shadow box and lots of space for pictures and ephemera from the big event.  Here are some close ups.

I think the finished project turned out super cute.  Next time try a sketch!  Hope the new parents to be LOVE IT too!

It's All about the Thank You's Card Class

This month we are doing a card class that focuses on Thank you's.  I always find myself digging into my card stash for thank you cards so I thought you might be the same.  In this class we are making some fun cards.  Take a look:

The card on the far left is a gate fold card made from a fabulous foil accented paper line from Reccollections.  The card in the middle is a tri-fold out card with lacy die cut accents from Heartfelt Creations,  The card on the far right is one of the new stamp and die pairs called "Waterlily"  from Stamplistic that is encrusted with Swarovski Crystals and the super cut tag in the foreground is made on a manilla tag base from The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, TX.

Come join us for this fun class on Saturday, May 19th at 2:00 PM.  Call the store to register at 972-923-3151.  Hope to see you there!

Easter Card Class

My next class at The Crafty Scrapper will be Saturday, March 17th at 2:00 PM and it's all about Easter!   I can't wait for spring!  If you are as intrigued as I was about the new twist and pop cards come take my class and learn all the tricks on how to create this fabulous card:

You can take a look at the video that shows the fabulous movement of this card here

The second card is a wonderful Easter egg twirl card where the egg appears suspended in air and if you wind it before you place it in the envelope to the recipient it will "twirl" when they open it:

The third card is a great new stamp and die set from Art Gone Wild that adds great dimension (that may be hard to see in the picture) and fun to any card:

And as a bonus - how could I not add an Easter basket made out of this fabulous Authentique paper that is just perfect for it:

I hope you come join us for the class.  You can register at the link listed above for the Crafty Scrapper - hope to see you there!

Valentine for that special someone

I want to share with you a sweet Valentine I made for a sweet friend’s hubby.

This was made with the Heartfelt Creations Flip and Fold "E" mini album.  They come two in the package and this is the smaller one in black.  The entire Valentine is covered in beautiful papers from The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, TX.  The black lacy die cut is Heartfelt Creations made specifically to match up with these fantastic flip and fold inserts.  The rose is handmade from cardstock and the other flowers and leaves are a mixture of punches from cardstock and vellum.

When you open the flaps that are help closed with hidden magnets it reveals a page that has two pockets made from a large 3" scalloped heart punch.  They are made into pockets that hold two tags made from a punch with satin ribbons attached ready for your love notes.

When you unfold the middle flaps you reveal the waterfall pages hidden inside.  These are ready for pictures, journaling, and special mementos to your special someone.

Lips and Love letters.

Great spot for photos.

And who doesn't love a box of Chocolates on Valentine's Day?

Here are wishes for a wonderful Valentine's Day.  Make your sweetie something handmade with love!

Annette

Heartfelt Valentine Flipfold Mini Album

I taught this class this past Saturday at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie and what a beautiful Valentine to give to someone special in your life.

We started with a Heartfelt Creations Flip and fold insert "E" in black that were originally designed to go in their flip and fold album but I turned it into a special interactive card or mini stand alone album for Valentines.  I taught the class how to make 3D roses out of just a circle and a pair of scissors as well as a carnation out of just 8 punched circles and a brad - so much fun!

All of the pages were covered with designer papers from The Crafty Scrapper.  The Valentine was full of pull out tags, belly bands and special love notes.

What a fun class.  I hope this inspires your to make someone a special Valentine!

Happy crafting,
Annette

For the Love of Butterflies on your Birthday Card

I made a very special card this week for a very special lady.  I think that the love and care that you share with a person through a handmade card is so very special.  And what better day to show someone you care for them than on their birthday!?!

This is a 6 X 6 card on pink card stock that is layered with turquoise pearlescant paper, white card stock, and a beautiful butterfly print.  I added paper flowers and leaves on the front for dimension as well as fussy cut butterflies from the paper dusted with glitter and adorned with Swarovski crystals because it is all about the bling!

I added a sweet sentiment and butterfly on the inside as well.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this card and it inspires you.

Well I have gone and done it - I am teaching a class this February at my very favorite scrapbook store on the planet - The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, TX.  The class is Saturday, February 3rd at 2:00 PM - just in time to make this fabulous Valentine for someone special in your life.  You can register for the class online here:  http://www.thecraftyscrapper.com/events/

Have you been eyeing the new Heartfelt Creations flipfold inserts but are not sure how to get started? Come learn how to create a beautiful Valentine mini album from one of the Heartfelt inserts. We will help you take the worry out of the building process and allow you to jump right into the fun part of decorating your album with beautiful papers and learn how to make two different types of paper flowers as embellishments. This makes a special keepsake album or a fabulous interactive card and as a bonus you will take home an additional insert to make another project. Supply List: bone folder, paper trimmer, wet and dry adhesive as well as score tape, paper piercer and slotted quilling tool if you have one.

I hope that you sign up for this wonderful class!
